Do you always know how to pray? In every situation?
- Finances
- Job
- Illness
- Death
You want to pray. Does/did God answer your prayer? Did you know for sure He would? Did it surprise you (the answer)?
Ask yourself:
- Am I confident in my prayer life?
- Have you ever believed God would answer "A" and were surprised by answer "B" ?
- Are your prayers general? "Bless everyone" "Bless missionaries everywhere" "Be with us"
- Are you afraid to pray specifically? For definite answers?
How about this:
- Have you ever been awed by stories of someone's prayer life? Their answers to prayer?
- Have you ever felt like a reject or a second class saint because you never get those type of answers?
- Have you been jealous? Angry? Envious? Mad?
- Have you ever wondered if you even know how to pray?
"Pray, then, in this way" (Matthew 6:9).
1John 5:14 (NASB) And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us [in] whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
According to these verses, if you ______ anything that is according to ______ _______, you can know that He will _________ and _________ your prayer. Is it God's will that you know how to pray? __________
- Go to God in prayer, tell Him what you want regarding prayer, refer to His promise (above) and claim it.
- Write out your prayer. Use the back of this paper. Keep it simple, short, and to the point. Length does not necessarily equal goodness.
