Prayer - Pt 10

The second index phrase is "Thy Kingdom come"

It is confirmation in prayer of our allegiance to sovereign rule in God's Kingdom.

Are worship and allegiance synonyms?

"I know I should study/pray/meditate more, but..."

"I Know I should be more involved in His work, but..."

"I know I should witness, but..."

But what??!! "But my first allegiance is not to God." -- ouch!

Is not "Thy kingdom come" and "Thy will be done" the same thing? Yes & No.

True and complete submission to God's will is born out of undivided, absolute allegiance to his Kingdom.

This is where the church has fallen flat. We are double-minded.

Phil 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

We (the church) are involved in "Churchianity" and giving lip service to God. We are like Demas: "for Demas, d this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens [has gone] to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia". 2Tim 4:10

This is truth.

Jere 20:9 But if I say, "I will not remember Him Or speak anymore in His name," Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding [it] in, And I cannot endure [it.]

And we have to address it.

Is a person approved unto God if they have time for everything else in their life but not the study of His word? They know much about things in the world, but very little about God.

Deut 8:3 "And He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

When Jesus called all men to Himself, what kind of allegiance did He ask for?

Mark 8:34 And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

Matt 10:34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35 "For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

36 and a man's enemies will be the members of his household.

37 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

39 "He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.

What is your understanding of the allegiance Jesus asks for:

Read Luke 9:57-62

What is Jesus' response to the "permit me" requests?

What does His response tell us about pre-eminence & allegiance?

Ask God today to reveal to you anything that is dividing or diluting your allegiance to His Kingdom. Write it down and confess to the Lord and perhaps an accountability partner:

Eccl 4:9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.

10 For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
